Dear Parents,

This week your child’s Talk homework is to discuss letters, how they should be set out (the address, date etc). Also think about things they might do if a friend slept over.

Please chat to your child on this topic and others surrounding  it. This will help support their writing on Friday

If possible, could the T.V be turned off while the discussion is taking place!

Thanks you for your support.

Learn By Heart (18/3/13)

Learn By Heart Year 3; Spring Term.

Issue date; Monday 18th March 2013

Practice test; Friday 22nd March 2013

Actual test; Thursday 28th March 2013

Target;

To answer addition and subtraction problems.

Notes to help you revise;

·         In subtraction, the biggest number goes first.

·         If subtracting a 2-digit number e.g. 32-19; subtract the units, then subtract the tens e.g. 32-9=23, 23-10=13.

·         In addition, the order of the numbers doesn’t matter, you will still get the same answer.

·         In addition, put the biggest number in your head first.

·         If adding 2 2-digit numbers e.g. 23+16; add the units together, then the tens, then add the answers e.g. 3+6=9, 20+10=30, 30+9=39.

Practice at home.

Our last Learning Log target was about holidays, where you had been, all about the things you did etc.
They were FANTASTIC, I was so impressed, here are just a handful of examples;

Where did you go and what did you enjoy there?

Andy Warhol

As part of our Celebrity Chefs topic we researched the famous artist Andy Warhol, then we had a go ourselves, here are Year 3's soup tins.

What art movement did Andy Warhol start?

World Book Day

As part of World Book Day each class had to chose a particular author to focus on, Year 3 chose Dr. Seuss. We had a fantastic day, we dressed up as Dr. Seuss characters, hot seated them, designed book covers, made character profiles, read some his books and generally had some Seuss fun!!!!

Stencilling

Last week Year 3 did some fantastic art work, they made their own stencils and used paint to design a pattern/print on a chef's outfit. I only gave them the colours blue, red, yellow and white paint and a mixing tray, some super paint mixing took place. Here are a sample of pictures;

Tell me what colours you mixed and how you made them.
